I am a professor (research track) at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), INTI International University (INTI). As a forester, I am trained to contribute towards the management of the forest and its green inhabitants, through both conventional method and molecular techniques.

I obtained my first degree and my second degree in Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Then, I completed my PhD in the same faculty, with the specialization in Forest Biotechnology. My PhD dissertation focused on the genetic variability and DNA barcoding of the endangered agarwood-producing genus, Aquilaria as well as the characterization of wound-response related genes in Aquilaria malaccensis through proteomics approach.

During my second year of PhD study, I went for research attachment at the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development (IMPLAD),  Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing, China for six months. Upon graduation in 2016, I continued receiving trainings as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Forestry, UPM for the next two years, in which I was given the task to look into potential wood forensic methods for agarwood products and the establishment of a chloroplast genome reference database for five native Aquilaria species in Malaysia. Subsequently, I joined Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) of Guangzhou, China for my second postdoctoral service to assist in the assessment of traditional Chinese medicinal plants and forest diversity. In 2021, I returned to Malaysia and joined INTI as a full-time academic staff.
